"If Centipedes Wore Shoes..." by Fred Howells
Illustrated by Fred's wife, Sandra. and edited by their daughter, Corrine, it's a family project ten years in the making. "If Centipedes Wore Shoes..." is a book of folk art with cowboy poetry for children preschool to age 12, and adults will like it too! Each poem is about a different animal. There's one poem each about an antelope, a beaver, a bee, a cow, an earthworm, a gopher, a hawk, a horse, a kangaroo, a sheep, a turtle and more! Here's the poem that gives the book its title:
Cindy's Shoes
Little Cindy Centipede
Really was quite neat,
She had one hundred little legs,
One hundred tiny feet.
She never learned to read and write,
It really was quite cruel.
She couldn't get her shoes all tied
In time to go to school.
Softcover book, 28 pages, 7" X 9" (18 cm X 23 cm), 23 poems, over 60 original full-colour illustrations.
